Saturday’s Kentucky Derby was most definitely a shocker, but it was even more shocking for people in West Texas and New Mexico. The winner, Mine That Bird, is trained by Bennie “Chip” Woolley, Jr. The local newspaper, Amarillo.com, tweeted not long after the results were final that Woolley was from Dalhart, Texas – not far from Amarillo.
However, everyone knows that Woolley hauled Mine That Bird all the way from New Mexico via truck and trailer to compete in the Derby. So, fittingly, Bloomfield, New Mexico (not far from Farmington) is claiming the horse and trainer as well.

Great race this weekend. Who would’ve thought a 50-1 shot this year? Also, I know most of us horse lovers use it, so thought I’d let you know that I found some pretty great coupons on Absorbine products: http://www.absorbine.com/offers.html. I can’t wait to try out UltraShield; the stuff is supposed to work wonders! Take care.
